Tharros'
activity starts in the mid-70’s, at a time
signified by student demonstrations but also of great artistic fervor and search
for manual expression, when a meeting took place with an oriental artisan who
was selling his very elaborate jewelry pieces, made of metal and semi- precious
gems, at Italian city markets and fairs.
The fascinating link
between artistic expression, the search for materials and subsequent travels to
other (foreign) countries was the motivating force in undertaking a voyage that
carried the Tharros artisan-artist to today’s levels of creativity and perfection.
Tharros’ long
artistic passage arrives at the end of the 70’s with the opening of a workshop
in Madrid where Spanish culture and the richness of creative stimuli became fundamental
elements in his artistic and artisan development. The comparison with traditional
Spanish style and the encounter with the many metal-casting craftsmen gave a decisive
characteristic imprint to his creations.
It is easy then to guess
that the right place to delve into a deeper understanding and to find the right
interest in art was Florence,
where in fact maximum artistic creativity is seen to develop for those who are
in continual search for the aesthetic, the taste and the fascinating traditions
of the great Renaissance artists.
In fact, it is in this city, beginning in ‘81 that the first Tharros combination
atelier/shops are opened, soon to become the favorite destination for lovers of
extremely unique, very refined and sought-after artistic jewelry.
